How To Dress For A First Date
By L. J. Murray
So you've finally got a date with that hot guy you've been secretly eying for
months. So of course the next question is what are you going to wear? I mean
after all you've been working towards this moment for a while now and you don't
want to screw things up by showing up looking a complete mess. I mean you want
to look sexy but if you go even a little overboard you could end up looking a
wee bit desperate and even a little trampy. And on the other end of the
spectrum, you don't want to show up looking like you're going to Sunday brunch
with Grandma either.
So the question is how do you decide what to wear on a first when you're really
into someone? Sometimes as women we do tend to over analyze this decision a tad
bit. (Okay maybe a little more than a tad!) I guess what it really boils down
to is if you really like someone and you think they could possibly be a great
companion you really want to put your best foot forward. With that being said
here are a few tips you can use when deciding what to wear on a first date.
One of the first things you should always do when dressing for a first date is
be sure to play up your best features. Everyone has something about them that
they think is rather attractive whether it's your legs, the small of your back,
or even a long graceful neck. The point is whatever it is about yourself that
you like be sure to wear something that really brings out that feature. This
will help you to feel good about how you look and confidence is key when it
comes to being impressive on a first date.
Another great thing you can do is wear colors which complement your skin tone.
Now it's not necessary to go out and have your colors done just to look nice on
a date. All you really need to do is try on different colors and have a really
good look at yourself in the mirror. See which colors stand out the most and
which ones seem to blend in to your skin and completely wash you out. After
you've really analyzed several different colors, chose the ones that look most
appealing to you and go with those.
One thing that lots of women do when it comes to choosing what to wear on a
first date is go out and buy something totally out of the norm for them that
they believe will really catch their guys eye only to get it home and toss it
to the side because it's just not them. Going on a date is a little like going
on a job interview, while you don't want to show up in a power suit, you do
want to choose that "go-to" outfit that always makes you feel your best when
you go out. Most of us have one. You know, the little black dress that always
make you feel taller and slimmer or that vibrant backless number that you
always get tons of compliments on? The key here is to pick an outfit that you
always feel good in when you go out.
Do you have an outfit that you love that just seems to need a little something
to give it that added zing? Try adding a few key accessories. Accessories can
do wonders for an outfit whether it's adding a wide belt to cinch in a dress or
adding a colorful scarf and new clutch purse to add a little brightness to a
silhouette.
Finally, the most important thing to remember when it comes to figuring out how
to dress for a first date is to make sure you're comfortable. No matter how
great you look, if your feet are hurting or you can barely breathe in that
dress, you won't be able to have a good time if you're not comfortable. Besides
nothing can turn a date toward disaster faster than constant complaining about
how you can't dance because your feet hurt or how you can't eat because your
dress is too tight.
The bottom line is you're going out on the date to have a good time with
someone you really like so don't spoil by it by worrying too much about what
you have on. Just use a few key pointers when dressing for your date and you're
sure to have a great time.
Do you know what's the No. 1 "man repellant" in existence? Ignore this and
you'll make him feel incapable of being your hero. This could very well be a
major reason as to why "he's just not that into you
